Submission FAQ

Posted by Kevin on November 15th, 2009

At the St. Louis Old School Tattoo Expo, I fielded a couple questions about submissions to Tattoo Snob. To help everyone out – artists and collectors, here’s a brief FAQ.

“What is Tattoo Snob all about?”

Each time I answer this question, I get better at it. The whole point of Tattoo Snob is to spread the good word about tattooing and what’s happening in the tattoo world. It’s aimed at artists and enthusiasts to be a one stop for good tattoo work, special events, convention information, guest spot information, and to learn about exceptional artists, shops, and companies.

“What can I submit to the site?”

Pictures, artist or shop news, guest spots, convention openings, pictures from conventions, special events at your shop, sales, opinions, or anything tattoo related.

Want to get on a soap box and bitch about something? Send it to us.

See a news story that you want to share with the world? Send it to us.

Ok, you get the idea – hit us up with anything tattoo related.

“How do I submit pictures or information to the site?”

The easiest way it to e-mail us TattooSnob@gmail.com. You can always drop us a line on any of the accounts below too.

“What other information should I send?”

Please send the artist and shop information, any information you’d like to include with the piece, and links you would like posted (within reason – ten different links won’t be included for a single picture.)

“Do pictures need anything special?”

The only thing we require is a non-blurry picture that is decent quality. If something else comes up, we’ll let you know.

“What other ways can I get in touch with Tattoo Snob?”

We’re available on Twitter, Myspace, Facebook, and now Google Wave.

“How quickly will information get posted?”

It depends on what it is. With special events, we typically post them a couple days before the event. If the information is news related, it’s typically posted within 24 hours. With pictures, it can be anywhere from 24 hours to a couple weeks – it all depends on what we have lined up.

“Can you e-mail me when my submission gets posted?”

No, but when can usually give you an idea when it’ll be live on the site.

“Are all submissions guaranteed to be posted?”

No, unfortunately not. We try to be fair about what we post, but the website is called Tattoo Snob for a reason.

“Will Tattoo Snob post information from outside of the United States?”

Definitely, but with us being in the United States, it’s sometimes difficult to be in the loop about happenings, artists, and shops. We welcome submissions from anywhere though.

“I’m interested in writing for Tattoo Snob, can I?”

We’re not currently seeking any additional people, but you can always e-mail us.

“How can I be a featured artist?”

Start off by submitting some pictures, and we’ll go from there.

“I know you guys have ulterior motives – who do you work for?”

The only thing we’re up to is trying to make it easier for people to get information about what’s going on, and help showcase some amazing artists, shops, and companies.

Nobody at Tattoo Snob works inside the tattoo industry – we’re just collectors trying to give something back.
