Relief for Haiti

Chris Dingwell and the crew over at Sanctuary Tattoo in Portland, Maine are doing their part to help send some money to Haiti. Here are the details:
I really want to do something to help, but my hesitation about sending money to Haiti is that I want to know where my money is going. Throwing money at the Red Cross seems ineffective to me; with all the good that they do, there is also a lot of bureaucracy and red tape. I don’t want to be paying someone’s salary in an office in Boise.
Last night I learned that my old friend from Ohio, Chuck Schiavone, who is a fireman and a medic, is going to Haiti PERSONALLY to work with a group that will be providing medical assistance and building shelters. They will be working in conjunction with Doctors Without Borders, Catholic Charities, and the UN. He and his team have supplies already in hand, but they need to pay their own airfare to get there, and they are leaving on Feb. 6th., so they need the money SOON.
In that effort I will be offering special HAITI RELIEF TATTOO GIFT CERTIFICATES, in any amount you wish to buy, every penny of which will go to help their cause. Even if you don’t get the money before Feb. 6th., they will still need your support while they are there, and they will be there for a long time.
These gift certificates will work just like any of the regular ones we sell. You can use them to get tattooed here at our studio, but ANY of the artists who work here, (not just me) within the next year. They are transferrable, so you can give them to anyone you wish, or use them your self. Just call or come into the shop any time soon and ask for them.
