Seeing doubles

Posted by Kevin on June 2nd, 2010

Can someone please explain to me the double or triple sets of eyes? I’ve seen a handful of artists do these in various paintings and tattoos, but I don’t understand it.

Don’t get me wrong – I like it. I’m just curious where it’s stems from.

I got a dragon chestpiece done way back in 1983 by Paul’Rambo’Ramsbottom (Now Curator of the Tattoo Museum, Manchester, UK). He put double eyes in the dragon and said it was just his style of doing dragons. No deep meaning, just his style. It makes mine just a little different from all the other dragons out there. (The colour in it is still like new, by the way)

Eyes have a lot of different meanings in art to different cultures and people. But I like to do it for mostly aesthetic reasons, it looks cool.
