Board to Lose the book

During the Salt Lake City Tattoo Convention, one of the exhibits that gained a lot of attention was the Board to Lose gallery. Featuring one hundred skateboards painted by different artists, the gallery made a small tour around different events in the country. Since then, all one hundred of the boards have been documented and a book has been published. For more information on the book, and to purchase a copy for yourself, click here.

To see a majority of the featured decks, check out the Board to Lose Myspace page.

Matters of the heart

I’ve seen plenty of people sporting ‘heartbreaker’ tattoos, but this is the first ‘heart broken’ one I’ve come across. Typically people don’t brag about being heart broken, but I really like the contrast between these two pieces.

Star Wars Day #2: Disturbance in Force Art Sale

In the beginning of the month, Hope Gallery held a show paying tribute to Star Wars called ‘Disturbance in the Force.’ Since then, the gallery has been open to the public with a number of the original art pieces being sold online.

A number of prints and original paintings are still available, such as my personal favorite, the “Impirial Mariachi” by the Beast Brothers.

Make a move if you’re interested in one of these, as they’ll only be available till Monday, July 5th.

Idle Hands by Shawn Barber

How do I go about getting the 5″x15″ prints that go with these boards without actually buying one? Don’t get me wrong, I dig the skateboards but I really just want the prints.

If you’re interested in picking up these decks, they’re not hard to find. I’ll even provide a good home for the prints to anyone who doesn’t want them…

Tattoo skincare with Out To Sea

There’s a plethora of tattoo-related creams, lotions, and varying other products on the market right now. But really, whose products should you be using and why?

Late last year, Kevin turned me on to a new line of tattoo aftercare products made by Out to Sea. This San Francisco-based vegan, junky filler-free skincare line is starting to make waves–as well it should. I spoke with Jenni a bit about what sets OTS apart from other tattoo aftercare skin products on the market… and their adult oriented  products as well.

If you’re looking to pick up some original tattoo-inspired clothing, look no further. Jeremy Miller and Johnny Gruesome have just released 38 different pieces available in men, women, and even baby sizes.

Brom Kah illustrations

Jessie Smith and Dan Hazelton recently collaborated on an illustration for a new comic book called Brom Kah. They were so psyched on the piece, they decided to print some 18×24″ posters of it.

Each posters costs $20 (including S&H,) and they’re available on Jessie Smith’s online store.

New clothing from Gunnar & Russ Abbott

Steadfast Brand released not one, but two new shirts today featuring art from tattooers. The first is a girl’s shirt with an owl from Gunnar, and the second is the 3G Network by Russ Abbott. If you’re interested, the owl shirt can be purchased through Journey’s and 3G Network is available at Steadfast’s Online Shop.

Hopefully the next shirt Steadfast Brand releases is a Dia de los Meurtos signature design from Gunnar…
