Sidekick Day: Big Brother

I may have voted for Obama, but Kevin “Right Wing” Miller insists he’s just a pawn for big brother. *pause*

I kid, I kid. Kevin may have voted for him too… though the likelihood of him ever admitting to it is probably zero.

Welcome to Sidekick Day!

With all of the different themes days we’ve done – we decided to pull one out of left field a little bit. Sit back and enjoy!

Wooooo!

I’m such a sucker for pieces featuring eighties culture. Surprisingly, I don’t have any of my own… yet.

Untraditionally Clockwork Orange

When I saw this tattoo of Mark Blanchard’s, I knew there was a bit of a story behind the piece. He had this to share with us about it:

My client threw out the idea of doing A Clockwork Orange piece. My first thought was to use an object from the film that was no question recognizable from the movie. Going with the mask on its own I’m sure would have been enough to depict A Clockwork Orange tattoo, but adding another object just would have made it more interesting. So, thinking of another intense part from the movie, I went with the brainwashing theater scene and came with the mechanical eye-clamps onto the drama mask.

As they say, “That was a real kick and good for laughs and lashings of the old ultraviolent.”

Haven’t got a Clue

Initially Kevin and I promised ourselves we wouldn’t be posting photos of in-progress pieces… because it’s so much more fun to look at them once everything’s been completed. Since we haven’t exactly stuck to that I have no hesitations about posting the beginnings of this Clue-themed sleeve.

If this Professor Plum tattoo looks familiar, it’s because you’ve seen video of Ashley Henrickson’s sleeve posted here before.

Are you experienced?

I don’t know about the rest of you, but I grew up with a lot of Jimi Hendrix played around the house. I’m not too sure what that says about either of my parents, but it does mean I have a sincere appreciation for this style-bending portrait of Jimi.

Don’t stop believing

While I’ve seen an abundance of tattoos with these lyrics, I think it’s safe to call this the weirdest one in the existence of mankind.

Weed season

Was anyone not giddy as a child when it came to blowing the heads off dandelions? I know weed season is upon us and any lawn fanatics reading this cringe at the thought of a child blowing those little seeds being blown into their meticulously watered lawns… but c’mon. This tattoo is totally grass-friendly!

Hey Monday morning!

This pretty much summarizes how I feel about Monday morning… No offense Monday morning, you just seem to bring out the worst in people.

Swimming season

Given how incredibly hot it’s been in New York this summer, swimming seems to be one of the few reliefs NYC’s citizens can enjoy. I can only imagine how much fun it’d be to get tattooed in that kind of weather. This seems like it’d be a fun little ditty to do mid-heat wave, though.
