Got fangs?

I tried really hard to write about this tattoo without sounding like a) a creep or, b) a lesbian. Turns out that’s impossible, so I’ll just run with it: this vampy babe is hot, buxom and probably coming for me in my sleep tonight. *pause*

There’s more than just a little sexual innuendo in that last sentence. Whatever, blame it on “hump day.”

And now for something completely different

While I think just about everyone is familiar with Anil Gupta for his work with the fine art tattoos… this piece is equally as noteworthy. Just goes to show that regardless of what a tattooer winds up doing most often, that’s probably not the full extent of their talent.

Bombs away

As you scan this from top to bottom, you’ll most likely sigh a “Wow” out loud with all of this detailed black and grey work. If you’re anything like me, you’ll quickly smirk once you realize yes, that’s a hamster parachuting down. It only gets better as you keep going down.

Zombie of Oz

I’ll probably receive a little flack for this, but I can only handle so much zombie shit. While I do enjoy it in small doses, I think it’s overplayed and I’d much rather see something truly unique.

With that being said, this Wizard of Oz zombie twist is truly unique. I’d love to see an entire sleeve of this! Can you imagine a zombie the Lion? Or Toto? I really hope this is a tight shot of a much larger piece…

A more-than-manly butterfly chest piece

If you’re a big fan of epic black and gray tattoos, you’ve probably already made yourself familiar with Robert Hernandez’s work. If you haven’t, now would be a good time to do so. I swear every piece of his is like pure (black) gold.

Jack Rudy’s unexpected Virgin Mobile commercial

I’ve heard so much about this Virgin Mobile commercial featuring Jack Rudy, but I never managed to see it until now. It’s not quite what I expected, but I like it.

With that being said, I think I could make a better commercial. In my version, I would just let Jack share his uncensored thoughts on polyphonic ringtones, text messaging, and smart phones. While I could be completely wrong, I have a feeling this would be highly entertaining. Unfortunately Virgin Mobile probably wouldn’t agree.

Thanks to Mr. Tattooed Geek for sharing this with us.

Code of the West

I always wondered if people outside of America idolized the wild west like we do? For some reason, a movie about the industrial revolution doesn’t seem quite as entertaining as the wild west.

You have to hand it to him…

I’m not sure when every creature in the animal kingdom started dressing like a dapper gentleman (or a wise-talking pool shark, like the dog below) but if the real world could follow suit I think we’d all be in a much better mood. I mean, bear in a fez and a monocle! Hello, does it get any more uplifting on a Sunday afternoon than that?

In progress

We don’t post a ton of ‘in progress’ tattoo pieces, but this one stood out and featured a number of quality shots.

I’m really digging the overall feel of this, especially the flow over the entire torso. It’s not a piece you see everyday.

Board to Lose the book

During the Salt Lake City Tattoo Convention, one of the exhibits that gained a lot of attention was the Board to Lose gallery. Featuring one hundred skateboards painted by different artists, the gallery made a small tour around different events in the country. Since then, all one hundred of the boards have been documented and a book has been published. For more information on the book, and to purchase a copy for yourself, click here.

To see a majority of the featured decks, check out the Board to Lose Myspace page.
