Preparing for more new skool

The other day I asked what happened to the new skool?

Since then, we’ve received a ton of new skool submissions, and it’s obvious we need to post more work of this style. If you’re interested in seeing your work on Tattoo Snob, send them to TattooSnob@gmail.com.

All the damn red

While I’d love to see what this tattoo looks like when it isn’t so fresh, I can make due for the time being. That’s the only downer of getting photos of a brand new black and gray piece from anyone; all the damn red!

An ode to Billy Madison

When Jeremy Miller first sent this tattoo in, I immediately thought of the flaming dog poop clip from Billy Madison.

For the record, I don’t know if there’s actually poop in this bag but I think it’s a safe assumption.

Texas Toast

The next time you’re eating some Texas Toast, you’ll be thinking of this tattoo.

Life and death

Someone told me recently there was “no reason” to post work from Thomas Hooper because, and I quote: “everyone’s already seen it.”

I think I speak for anyone who doesn’t get their dick outta joint due to jealousy when I say there are many reasons to post Hooper’s new work, and that I’m going to keep doing so until the cows come home. (Or the internet explode, whichever comes first.)

Look into her eyes

I love the bird in the background, and her hair with those flowers but her eyes really seem to draw me in.

What happened to the new skool?

Julene and I were talking about the fact that we don’t see a ton of ‘new skool’ tattoo work. Neither of us could really pinpoint why that is. The work is bright, interesting, and it’s amazing when it’s done right.

If anyone has an opinion on why that is, please feel free to leave it in the comments below. I’m interested to hear what everyone has to say.

Win tickets to the Paradise Artist Retreat 2012!

The 2012 Paradise Tattoo Gathering & Artist Retreat in Santa Ana Pueblo, NM is coming up soon–February 20th-23rd, in fact–and I know some of you want to go *really* badly. Looks like the organizers are feeling generous, because everyone who ‘likes’ the event page on Facebook gets entered to win a set of tickets to the retreat.

They’re cutting off entries and contacting the winner via Facebook on January 30th – ‘Like’ the Paradise Artist Retreat 2012 page on Facebook for your chance to win!

Not sure what all the hoopla is about? Watch the video below for footage from last year’s retreat, as well as some great quick interviews with attendees.

All time high

Ok, so maybe 7 isn’t all that high…

A smug-looking owl

While I think owls look smug by default, something about this guy looks extra snooty to me.
