Suited up

I don’t know if there’s any particular reason, but the number of tattoos done by Honkey Kong with a (potentially) political message seems be on the rise.

Of course, I could be totally wrong. This elephant might just happen to own a man-suit, a gun, and an attitude problem.

Keep calm and carrion

Honkey Kong

In my opinion, one of the most interesting tattoo artists out there is Adam Hathorn (A.K.A. Honkey Kong) at Guru Tattoo in San Diego, CA. I have a hard time describing his style, as I wouldn’t classify him as a new school artist, but he’s by no means traditional.

Check out this video of Adam to see exactly what I mean. To see more of his work that we’ve featured on Tattoo Snob, click here.

Fucking politics (NSFW)

While I realize everyone’s temporarily in awe of Zuckerburg due to the recent release of The Social Network, it’s still fun to curse his name upon seeing that Facebook took down the unedited version of this political tattoo.

Reminder: don’t view this photo at work unless your boss is really cool or… actually, they’ll need to be beyond “really cool” for viewing this on a work computer not to earn you a firm talking-to.

Broke, hungover, and loving it

Is there any city that has more tattoos dedicated to its honor? Maybe honor isn’t the best word, since Vegas is known for it’s drunken immoral behavior.

Day of the Cock: Around the neck

Despite Julene’s predictions, I’m going to join in on the cock day festivities.

Gettin’ it on with HonkeyKong

This is what happens when a t-rex and an adorable kitten cross the lines of inter-species relating & the space-time continuum: magic!

#FollowFriday – Tattoo Artists

A couple weeks ago, we announced a weekly #FollowFriday post to share some of our favorite Twitter users. The weekly posts seemed to lack over the past two weeks due to the holidays, so we waited on posting this until now.

Obviously tattoo artists are the best place to start, so without further ado – here’s the list:

Tim Kern – The infamous New York city tattoo artist has has a strong presence on the internet for years, and it’s no surprise that Tim is all over the newest internet fad.Megan Massacre – Like our previous posts of Megan? Good, because they were both stolen from her tweets.

Shawn Barber – Tattoo artist and painter extraordinaire Shawn Barber shares his tasks throughout the day, and typically includes a snap shot showing off his jaw dropping work.

Myke Chambers – Myke updates his Twitter quite a bit, and is constantly sending out pictures, links, and letting everyone know when he’s tattooing live over UStream.

Durb Morrison – If you know anything about Durb, it’s he is always working on something new. You can try to keep up, but let me warn you – it’s not easy.

Adam Hathorn – Adam Hathorn AKA HonkeyKong is someone I make sure always check out his tweets. A mixture of unique tattoo work, and humorous tweets helps fuel my Twitter addiction.

In an attempt to make it easier for people to follow this group, and people that will be added to the group in the future – I’ve created a list off the Tattoo Snob twitter account. From what I understand you can follow this list as opposed to all the users, and still receive all the tweets.

I’ll be updating this list in the future, removing people that fall off the Twitter game and adding fresh faces.

Ding!

Last month, I decided to treat myself to a new laptop. With the amount of time I spend on a computer writing entries, and generally wasting time, I easily justified the purchase. I don’t need anything fancy, so I just bought myself a basic Macbook.Between traveling and tossing it around, I figured I could use a cover for it as well. I might as well put one on now, as the computer was brand new and all. I’ve seen a number of tattoo artists mention they did designs for Ding, so I took the plunge and checked out the site.

The site has a separate section for tattoo artists, and they fill it up nicely. They have designs from a number of artists, and several tattoo related companies. Each design comes in a version to fit your cell phone, laptop, iPod, or gaming device. They even make covers for your Guitar Hero controller.

The laptop cover costs around $30, but coupons aren’t hard to find (check their Twitter.) I think when everything was said and done, I ended paying around $27 for the cover. After ordering it, it took about fourteen days to come in with standard shipping. Once it was here, it only took a few seconds to apply. It doesn’t use glue or anything that’ll ruin your device, but yet it doesn’t easily come off either. Don’t ask me that works – it just does.

Overall, it’s a decent way to protect your device and support a tattoo artist at the same time. It beats the gem encrusted alternative for sure.
