Deck the Halls

This Saturday the 17th, Massive Tattoo will have a skateboard art show called Deck the Halls. The event starts at 8pm, and officially ends at 11pm. If you’re in the Las Vegas area, this is definitely something to stop by and check out.

Evaluating art for artistic growth

I’ve been sitting here for ten minutes writing out an intro for Nick Baxter’s new twenty page booklet. Once I have a full sentence written out, I read it before immediately erasing it. Instead of wasting any more time, I’m just going to copy/paste Nick’s explanation that he posted on his blog:

I’m making available to all, free of charge, a 20-page booklet I wrote explaining the principles of how to evaluate art for artistic growth, as well as how to foster a positive critique environment with your peers and colleagues.  This text will almost certainly see further development sometime in the future, into something even more comprehensive. But in the anti-copyrightanarchist spirit of community and sharing, the current version is free to all who are willing to read and learn.  Thanks to Teresa Sharpe for invaluable help in writing it, and to my other friends who gave feedback and suggestions.  Download it here.

Philip Milic & Old Crow video profile

This interview with Phillip Milic is all over the place, but it’s extremely interesting. I definitely get the vibe that Old Crow is a fun place to be around around, and always has unusual things taking place.

Recap: Fear of the Dark

Clare Jordan attended the Hope Gallery re-opening and Fear of the Dark show, and was nice enough to shoot us a couple pictures from the show. It looks like fun was had by all, and I especially like the old horror movies in the background.

Thanks to Clare for sharing pictures with the site!

Fear of the Dark

Hope Gallery Tattoo is hosting a grand re-opening party tomorrow night, and also included their 6th annual art show, Fear of the Dark. The festivities begin at 7pm, and are open to the public.

I don’t have a list of artists that are participating, but I do know that Nathan Kostechko has this in the show. Interesting topic for a ‘Fear of the Dark’ show, isn’t it? Or should I say inspired?
