VIDEO: The Gypsy Gentleman, Episode Two

Episode 1 of Marcus Kuhn’s The Gypsy Gentleman was filmed here in NYC–watch it here, if you haven’t already–and like most of you, I was praying there were more episodes to come. Sure enough, Mr. Kuhn did not disappoint. For episode 2, the crew headed to Austin, TX to speak with Tony Hundahl and Steve Byrne–further proof that not only is Marcus committed to doing this project right, but bringing in the best names to help him in the process.

They’ve gone so far as to tell us what to expect in Episode 3: San Francisco!

You can’t go wrong with Rock of Ages

You simply can’t go wrong with a ‘Rock of Ages’ tattoo, especially when Steve Byrne is doing it.

All laced up

The only times I’ve seen women look happy about wearing a corset is in still images… and at Renaissance Festivals. Otherwise, I’m pretty sure anything involving a girl having her corset cinched looks like a particular scene from ‘Gone With The Wind’ than anything else that may come to mind.

The weeping pineapple

Weeping might not be the correct word, but ‘weeping pineapple’ sounded a lot classier than ‘crying pineapple.’

Art for Animals

Affinity Tattoo is holding the Art For Animals benefit for the no-kill animal shelter, Austin Pets Alive! on Friday, September 9th.

Hundreds of tattooers from around the world are donating paintings to be auctioned off at www.austinartforanimals.com. All proceeds will be donated to APA! so that they can buy pet supplies and help keep dogs and cats off other shelters’ euthanasia list.

The opening party is taking place at Red7 in Austin on September 9th at 8pm. There will be friendly people, door prizes, food courtesy of The Vegan Yacht, and plenty of artwork for your viewing (and purchasing!) pleasure.

Online bidding ends October 9th when the paintings are shipped to the winning bidders. Even if you can’t be present for the event, you can still help save some critters–and score some sweet artwork for your home at the same time.

According to Joey Ortega, he “covered a small old phoenix on charline with a big ol’ fancy one!”

Fancy indeed! Joey’s currently touring around Europe, check his website for details.
