Life and death

Someone told me recently there was “no reason” to post work from Thomas Hooper because, and I quote: “everyone’s already seen it.”

I think I speak for anyone who doesn’t get their dick outta joint due to jealousy when I say there are many reasons to post Hooper’s new work, and that I’m going to keep doing so until the cows come home. (Or the internet explode, whichever comes first.)

Kings and Ravens

It’s amazing to consider how much diversity there is within the realms of tattooing; when I think of the black and gray tattoos I would see in tattoo magazines I picked up in the bookstore more than 10 years ago in comparison to pieces like the one below… well, it’s good to know old art can still learn new tricks.

Video: Thomas Hooper and Chris O’Donnell

Check it – these two videos perfectly showcase the sheer amount of work (and time!) that goes into a tattoo of this size. Add in the fact this backpiece is a collaboration between Thomas Hooper and Chris O’Donnell and you can understand why one video just wasn’t enough…

Two hands are better than one

I always forget that Maxime works in Brooklyn until he’s not in Brooklyn. One of these days, though, I intend to book some time with him while he’s stateside to get a tattoo involving fine line and geometric formations to call my own.

The only thing better than a good tattoo is one that comes complete with a good story. (Click that link to read Zana’s blog about her new tattoo.)

Always Cleen

I always know a Cris Cleen tattoo when I see one. I mean, how could you not? What I’ve been struggling with is a word to describe his uniquely antique imagery. Any suggestions?

Sutton settles in

Seems Jeremy Sutton is settling into his new home at Three Kings in Brooklyn quite nicely. (Though I’m greedy and always excited to discover another West Coast tattooer has made their way east.)

Pierced heart

I thought about just calling this entry “Pierced” but then I realized you guys might think we were trying to include all sorts of body modifications outside of tattooing. (Never gonna happen guys, don’t worry.)

More Power (NSFW)

Julene has gone on a NSFW posting spree the last couple of days. First there was the X-Rated Mermaid, and then there was the ‘Bald Phoenix.’ Obviously I can’t let Julene have all the fun, so I present you with this…

I promise this is the last NSFW tattoo for a while.
