It’s finally winter here in New York, which means it’s probably already well into the colder months elsewhere. People are staying indoors – as evidenced by the fact we’re receiving more submissions than ever before. (Thanks guys!)

But what else can you do while you’re indoors, cursing the cold and the lack of daylight hours? READ. If you’re into tangible reading material, you can always stop through Barnes & Noble (or any other fine bookseller, I’d imagine) to get a physical copy.

In the spirit of the holiday season, you can now download Dan Henk’s book, The Black Seas of Infinity, for free. Dan’s publisher is promoting the book by making it a free download on Amazon. The only thing you need to download the book is either a Kindle, or the Kindle app.

Before you start complaining, the Kindle app is free on just about all smart phones. In addition you can download the app on your Windows or Apple computer.

What are you waiting for, go download it!

Dan Henk recently announced via Twitter that he’ll be moving to Philadelphia in May of 2012. Dan will be tattooing full time at Deep Six Laboratory.

Updates from the Scotland Tattoo Convention

Dan Henk posted a number of pictures from the Scotland Tattoo Convention this past weekend on his Facebook page. Pictures range from tattoos he did over the weekend, to a few sightseeing pictures from the area.

I’m not sure how long Dan will be over there, but hopefully he gets to explore a little more and post more pictures.

Halloween with Austin Tattoo Company

Next Friday night, the good people at The Austin Tattoo Company are throwing a Halloween bash next Friday night.

On top of the normal Halloween debauchery, the shop will be giving away tattoo gift certificates and Oliver Peck’s Misfits cover band will be playing live. I haven’t even started talking about the art show featuring work from Nate Beavers, Bob Tyrrell, Nick Baxter, Paul Acker, Dan Henk, and others.

Do I still need to continue to convince you to go?

Congratulations is due to Dan Henk for his graphic novel being released this week as a Kindle download.

I was a little disappointed I wouldn’t be able to read this, until I was told there was a Kindle app for the iPhone and the Android. Looks like I have something to read on my next plane ride!

I’m not sure if anyone from the Netherlands reads this site, but I wanted to mention that Dan Henk is going to be spending sometime over there in July. Sorry I don’t have any specifics, but I’m just grabbing information from the incredibly vague flyer below.

Obviously if you’re interested, contacting Dan directly would be your best bet.

As I’ve mentioned before, it’s always interesting to see who tattooers choose among themselves to be tattooed by. Dan Henk has joined the skull tattoo crew, below is a photo after his first session with Nick Baxter.

Congrats to Paul Acker, Dan Henk, and Ron Russo for being recognized by Rob Zombie (on his blog?) for their ‘Killer Reject Tattoos‘. Knowing that all of these guys are huge fans of Rob’s work, I’m sure they’re psyched to have Rob’s stamp of approval on theirs.
