#FollowFriday – Tattoo Shops

Let’s be honest. Updating Twitter all of the time can be a pain in the ass. Especially if you have multiple pages, such as a personal account and an account for your business or website. There have been plenty of times that I didn’t even feel like looking at a computer, let alone trying to write something witty for the Tattoo Snob account.

With that being said, when a tattoo shop creates a Twitter account and actually keeps it updated – I’m impressed. Without further ado:

Black 13 Tattoo – The powerhouse tattoo shop of Nashville featuring Steve Martin, Josh Woods, Ian White, and Marty McEwen.

Union Electric Tattoo – Big 5 and Jim Sylvia are always posting pictures of fresh work and various antics throughout the shop.

Off the Map Tattoo – One of the most unique shops in the world, Off the Map has three top notch artists in house, and a revolving door of international tattoo artists doing guest spots throughout the year.

570 Tattooing Company – Although their tweets have slowed down over the past month, Ron Russo and the crew deliver quality work just outside of Pittsburgh, PA.

Obviously there are more shops on Twitter that we follow, but we’re going to save them until the next round.

As always, we created a list specifically for Tattoo Shops. The beauty of the list is that you can follow one list instead of all the individual accounts.

#FollowFriday – Photographers

Before you get all snooty wondering why you should add a bunch of photographers on Twitter because of a Follow Friday post… remember one thing: these dudes photograph chicks with tattoos. That has a tendency to end with those tattooed girls being naked.

Clearly the appeal here needs no further explanation, so without further adieu:

    - Craig Burton: I think most of our readers are US-based, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be lurking Craig’s photos. He shoots a lot of live music, he has a bunch of tattoo work of his own, and also happens to be accountable for some of the better photos I’ve seen in Inked.

    - Alissa Brunelli: Seems like everyone has been stoked on all of Alissa’s work that we’ve posted on here so far. (Especially the photos of Radeo and Frolic for Powderpuff Pinups.) Imagine the sheer joy you would experience seeing new work from her on the regular!

    - Sylvia Hagar: I don’t see how it’s possible for anyone to not know who Sylvia is–she’s responsible for photos of all the hottest babes you see in Prick Magazine & we interviewed her a few weeks back.

    - Kelly Lind: Kelly has a pretty long-standing habit of photographing hot chicks covered in tattoo work. I will say that most of the photos of his you will find online are NSFW, so be careful about what computer you use when pulling up his website.

Of course if following people individually isn’t your style, you could make things easy on yourself and just follow the TattooSnob approved photographer list on Twitter. If you know of someone else we should be adding to that list, by the way, don’t hesitate to email me about it.

#FollowFriday – Clothing companies

Last week we covered Tattoo Artists, so today we’re going to move onto clothing companies. I don’t typically get into brands, but these three companies are exceptions. Heavily influenced by the tattoo world, and often designed by tattoo artists – these three companies make multiple appearances in my closet.

Sullen Clothing – Sullen makes regular appearances on this website, and for good reason too. Sullen supports over twenty different tattoo artists through signature t-shirts, fund raising events, and various online media.Rebel 8 – Legendary artist and former tattooist Mike Giant is the design inspiration behind this clothing company. Rebel 8 has a mixture of graffiti inspired tattoo related clothing with a dash of hipster fashion. I personally tend to stay away from the fixed gear designs, and stick strictly to the tattoo themed shirts.

To Die For – Before there was a Miami Ink, Tim Hendrix and Chris Garver were designing shirts for To Die For. That was probably seven or eight years ago, and this company has made appearances in my closet since then. Before you write this company off and make a snide remark about the Miami Ink reference, at least check out the clothing.

Just like I did for the ‘Tattoo Artists‘ – I created a list for this group as well. I simply labeled it ‘Style‘ as we’ll be adding more companies to this list that go above and beyond clothing.

These lists are aimed at making it easier for people to follow this group, and they’ll grow as we continue to talk about new and different people and companies.

#FollowFriday – Tattoo Artists

A couple weeks ago, we announced a weekly #FollowFriday post to share some of our favorite Twitter users. The weekly posts seemed to lack over the past two weeks due to the holidays, so we waited on posting this until now.

Obviously tattoo artists are the best place to start, so without further ado – here’s the list:

Tim Kern – The infamous New York city tattoo artist has has a strong presence on the internet for years, and it’s no surprise that Tim is all over the newest internet fad.Megan Massacre – Like ourĀ previous posts of Megan? Good, because they were both stolen from her tweets.

Shawn Barber – Tattoo artist and painter extraordinaire Shawn Barber shares his tasks throughout the day, and typically includes a snap shot showing off his jaw dropping work.

Myke Chambers – Myke updates his Twitter quite a bit, and is constantly sending out pictures, links, and letting everyone know when he’s tattooing live over UStream.

Durb Morrison – If you know anything about Durb, it’s he is always working on something new. You can try to keep up, but let me warn you – it’s not easy.

Adam Hathorn – Adam Hathorn AKA HonkeyKong is someone I make sure always check out his tweets. A mixture of unique tattoo work, and humorous tweets helps fuel my Twitter addiction.

In an attempt to make it easier for people to follow this group, and people that will be added to the group in the future – I’ve created a list off the Tattoo Snob twitter account. From what I understand you can follow this list as opposed to all the users, and still receive all the tweets.

I’ll be updating this list in the future, removing people that fall off the Twitter game and adding fresh faces.

#FollowFriday

If you’re not familiar with the term Follow Friday, you should probably go ahead and move onto a different entry. Can I suggest the Tattoo Fight? It’s hilarious.

For those of you that are still here, obviously you’re on Twitter. If you’re like me, you’re always looking for new people to entertain you 140 characters at a time. The #FollowFriday trend is a great way to find new users related to your interests.

In an effort to provide worthy yet different content to our users, Tattoo Snob is announcing a weekly FollowFriday post here on the site. It’s going to be different than a typical follow Friday tweet, as we’re going to go above 140 characters and detail who each person is and what they do.

Every week we’re going to have a new category that is related to Tattoo Snob in some way. Obviously a regular category will be tattoo artists and shops. Other categories we’ve discussed our photographers, clothing brands, other websites, and maybe even a category of people featured on the website.

Next week will be our first #FollowFriday entry with tattoo artists that excel in the Twitter game.

Until then, make sure you’re following Tattoo Snob, and check our #FollowFriday entries today!
