Listen: I love woodcuts, I love tattoos of woodcuts, and I love Alice in Wonderland. Based on these three facts, clearly I have no choice but to love Holly Azzara for this tattoo.

Those of you from warmer climates may not care, but given all the snow I’ve been looking at lately some pretty flowers make a nice change of pace.

Before the new Alice in Wonderland movie was even being talked about, Holly Azzara tattooed the extensive piece below.
With the recent buzz around new movie, it’s no surprise that Holly has been receiving a ton of credited (and uncredited) press about her work. To avoid answering the same questions over and over again, Holly posted a blog about this madness.
When Kevin and I were looking over this photo he mentioned to me that this lower back piece happens to be a cover-up. As more & more ladies of my generation are covering their (pardon the term) tramp stamps, I feel like it’s really forcing tattooists to showcase a whole other set of skills rarely spoken of candidly in the tattoo community: the cover-up.
That being said, I wouldn’t know this was a coverup from my first glance at this photo… or after getting my nose right up against the monitor trying to “see it.” Surely that is a sign of a job well done by Holly, and a client that will be giving her rave reviews to all of their friends.
