Hope for Japan Benefit at High Voltage Tattoo

Kat Von D and the crew at High Voltage Tattoo are holding an event with all proceeds being donated to Save the Chidren Japan. Tomorrow between 12pm and 10pm, you can stop by the shop and get one of the designs below for $200. No appointments are required, so I’m willing to bet there is going to be a crowd.

Still have questions? Read the five W’s below.

The Tattoo Chronicles documentary

I’m always torn whether or not I should post something like this.

What do you think? I could go either way honestly…

Now hiring

Are you a tattoo artist? Have dreams of being a reality TV superstar? If so, your prayers may be answered as L.A. Ink is hiring tattoo artists.

From the way this reads, I assume they’re looking for artists to star on the show next season. Maybe not though, as I believe they have additional artists that work at the shop when the show isn’t being filmed.

Reno Tattoo’s newest ad

I know that parodying LA Ink and poking a little fun at the persona of Kat Von D is not new by any means… but I still get a kick out of it every time someone does it. In the spirit of making fun (not war) I feel like Reno Tattoo hit the nail on the head.

World Record Success

Remember us talking about Jeremy Swan from Broken Art Tattoo? Yes you do, he was the tattoo artist that attempted to break the world record of “Most tattoo’s given in 24 hours.” Well, he was successful, and actually went above the required 801, and completed an absurd 875 tattoo’s in 24 hours.

The L.A. Times covered the event and made a great video (embedded below.) The video covers the event, the atmosphere, and interviewed Swan prior to the event starting.

World record attempt

Jeremy Swan, tattoo artist and owner of Broken Art Tattoo, will attempt to break the world record of “Most tattoo’s given in a 24 hour period” this Friday the 13th. 801 is the magical number that Jeremy needs to complete to break the current record, and he will start at Midnight on Friday, November 13th (I.E. midnight tonight.)

If you’re in the Los Angeles area, the event starts tonight at 11pm at Broken Art (see the site for directions.) Food and beverages will be provided, and a live band will be on hand to kick the event off. There has been a handful of articles on the event (here, here and here,) but I’m sure once the event is underway there will be even more. Here’s the press release for additional information, and Jeremy has pictures of the available designs on his blog.

801 is a ridiculous number of work to be done in 24 hours. I can’t imagine how much Jeremy’s hands will ache when this is all said and done. This world record has seen a lot of activity over the past couple of years. Oliver Peck originally set the world record, and it was later broke by none other than Kat Von D. Oliver then took it back, but lost it to Hollis Cantrell this past November.
