Get to know Dan Smith via Twitter

On Monday Dan Smith randomly answered five ten questions on his Twitter account.

I really enjoyed reading these, and I think you will too. I actually enjoyed them so much that I took the liberty to screen capture them in case you missed them. If you’re not following Dan on Twitter, click here and fix that.

Not your usual pin-up

Traditional pin-ups will always hold a special place in my heart, but I’d be lying if I said I don’t appreciate a new take on an old favorite.

Dia de Los Hello Kitty Muertos

I don’t know much about Hello Kitty, but I do know there’s going to be a lot of people that love this tattoo.

This Saturday in LA

Norm from Will Rise Studios is having an opening party for his show at Known Gallery in Los Angeles on Saturday, July 16. I’ve seen some preview photos online – looks like it’ll be pretty cool. You West Coast kids should check it out!

SXE Day?

Julene and I have been talking about have a SXE Day, but we haven’t had a ton of submissions. Maybe this will get the ball rolling?

As always, you can submit your tattoos to TattooSnob@gmail.com. Don’t forget to include the artist, shop name, and location!

Video: Black Banditz Tattoo & Babershop/Salon

I’ve never been into Black Banditz but I’ve seen some legit work come out of the shop. The whole idea of a tattoo shop and barber/salon seems so weird, but I suppose it makes sense.

What do you think? Would you get tattooed in a place like this?

Video: EIKNARF with Norm from Will Rise Tattoo

Norm from Will Rise Tattoo in LA has a good thing going – this is the second short video featuring him that I’ve posted in the last month. The last one was a quick explanation of ‘con safos’ so this time around it’s nice to hear a little bit about the man himself.

Head first

We’ve posted a variety of trains, but I think this is the first from this ‘head first’ perspective.

A quick exploration of ‘con safos’

Let’s start our day with a non-offensive 2:48 video from Dan Smith. While those deeply entrenched in the worlds of graffiti and tattooing may already be familiar with Con Safos–I wasn’t.

From Wikipedia:

con safos: a Chicano term meaning “with safety,” used to mark graffiti. If such a piece was marked with “con safos,” it was off limits, a sort of trademark, and a way of indicating that a graffito was complete and unarguable.

Coming to America

Andy Engel is coming to America in June, and will be making stops at multiple shops in Southern California. It doesn’t look like he’s going to be around for too long, so if you want something, I suggest you act quickly. Dates and details are below:
