It’s been almost 10 years since I got some of the greatest advice I’ve ever been lucky enough to receive. I was getting tattooed in Pensacola, Florida at a beautiful shop called Hula Moon. Famous Gabe, a name he received from Bob Montagna, was tattooing me, a little skinny 19-year-old. I had just received news that I was going to start my apprenticeship at Aerochild Tattoos, and was so excited that it was all I could talk about…

Oh, the good old rooster on the hand tattoo. Do I go with the ‘hand job’ joke, or do I make a overused cock reference?

After perusing Yoni Zilber’s portfolio, I have a lot of questions about Tibetan style tattoos. (Kevin hates the word “style” but I’m coming up short on alternatives. If you have any suggestions I’d love to hear them.) From Yoni’s website:
To my understanding, I am one of only a few tattoo artists in the world who specialize in the Tibetan style. Though I still enjoy and excel in a range of artistic genres, I have increasingly been focusing on translating the Tibetan style into tattoo. In each piece, whether it is a traditional Tibetan image or an original composition translated through the Tibetan style, I strive for beauty, flow and simplicity while remaining sensitive to my client’s needs and respectful of the tradition upon which I am drawing.

Ever since Julene taught us about the superstitions of sailors, I’ve been a huge fan of this piece. I think it’s an interesting superstition, but it remains a rare enough knowledge tidbit that you won’t see everyone with something related to it.

Despite Julene’s predictions, I’m going to join in on the cock day festivities.
Pause…

You guys were pretty into our Owl Day posts recently, so I figured I’d keep on with the theme and bring you a day involving nothing but the cock. Kevin seems permanently embarrassed by these types of posts, so don’t be surprised if he doesn’t offer his two cents today. It’s okay, we all know I’ve got it under control.
