WW: Ivana skull

Is there anything Ivana cannot add a painter-like mastery to? I’m leaning toward no, personally.

Art abroad

I had wondered if you were allowed to be a tattooer while involved with the armed forces. Reader Brian Harris has now answered that question, as he is currently stationed in Misawa, Japan for the United States Navy and working at Ink Addiction Tattoo studio just off base.

Your ow-bow

Hopefully all of you survived New Years Eve relatively unscathed, without any new bumps, bruises or breaks to show for it. Or at least without making any of your more tender joints swell… like the bearer of the ow-bow below.

Praise the nana

Are skulls supposed to be able to induce hunger? I could really go for a ‘nana with some Cheerios right about now.

A new approach

Scotty Munster’s taken a rather novel approach to the way he presents finished tattoo photos. As you can see below, he’s started to include sketches of the tattoo as well of photos of him working on the piece with a photo of the final product.

You know me, always a fan of the start-to-finish.

Good morning sir

I can’t tell the exact size of this tattoo, but it’s a classy piece no matter how big or small.

Kostechko has Hooper on his mind

That title is not supposed to have a homoerotic undertone but I think it’s unavoidable. At least until you actually see Nathan Kostechko‘s new skull tattoo from Thomas Hooper.

“I’m fucking psyched on the end result. Here’s a pic of my new tattoo! Never thought I would end up this tattooed…” -Nathan Kostechko

Holt-ing it down

When looking at Phil’s blog I had a hard time choosing a tattoo of his to post. At first I was seriously considering showing you all these grapes… but the one one I chose to post today is something to be reckoned with. If you’ve received work from him, I’m going to go ahead and let you know that  you’re one lucky mofo.

Breaking the stride

I get tired of looking at the same tattoo pieces over and over again. Not the exact same piece, but the same perspective of a skull, or the same koi fish with waves or japanese clouds around it. It’s refreshing when you can look at a tattoo artists portfolio and not see those pieces. The tattoo artist I’m talking about right now is Nick Baxter.

This piece is a great example, the way the top fades into the wrist and the indentation in the skull matches up with the wrist joint. There’s nothing generic about this piece.
