Life and death

Someone told me recently there was “no reason” to post work from Thomas Hooper because, and I quote: “everyone’s already seen it.”

I think I speak for anyone who doesn’t get their dick outta joint due to jealousy when I say there are many reasons to post Hooper’s new work, and that I’m going to keep doing so until the cows come home. (Or the internet explode, whichever comes first.)

Video: Thomas Hooper and Chris O’Donnell

Check it – these two videos perfectly showcase the sheer amount of work (and time!) that goes into a tattoo of this size. Add in the fact this backpiece is a collaboration between Thomas Hooper and Chris O’Donnell and you can understand why one video just wasn’t enough…

Limited edition ‘Flash for Japan’ books available!

On the six-month anniversary of the devastating tsunami that swept over northern Japan, the finest tattooers in New York have come together to create a limited edition spiral bound collection of tattoo flash sheets, aptly named Flash For Japan.

The book features 28 of New York’s most respected tattoo artists, and only 100 copies are available. Copies run $100 — but all proceeds are being donated to assist the victims of the tsunami. You can purchase the book exclusively from Shirts & Destroy (online or in their Brooklyn storefront).   All production costs for the book were donated by Timothy Hoyer and Alpha Repro Graphics.

Artists involved in this project include: Eddy Deutsche, Tom Yak, Regino Gonzalez, Seth Wood, Bert Krak, Steve Boltz, Eli Quinters, Daniel Santoro, Sarah Schor, Stephanie Tamez, Virginia Elwood, Timothy Hoyer, Kevin Leblanc, Bart Bingham, Erik Desmond, Chris O’donnell, Thomas Hooper, Zac Scheinbaum, Horizakura, Troy Denning, Daniel Albrigo, Damien, Rodriguez, Kiku, Yoni Zilber, Anderson Luna.

The Gypsy Gentleman: Episode One

The moment I’ve been waiting for has arrived… the first episode of The Gypsy Gentleman (brainchild of Marcus Kuhn) is now available for all to see. Starring Thomas Hooper & Viginia Elwood, this episode was shot entirely in New York City–but it sounds like they’re trying to pull together the funds necessary to film in London for episode 2.

In other words: donate & propagate, my friends!

Hooper is now at Saved Tattoo

Thomas Hooper has updated his website quite a bit this week, posting detailed shots of various pieces. Some of them are old, some of them are new – they’re all amazing.

He also mentioned he’s now tattooing at Saved Tattoo. All future appoints will be carried out at the new shop.

Splash of color

We’ve posted quite a bit of work by Thomas Hooper, but this is the first color piece to grace our site.

While I love the color of this piece, I think I prefer the black and grey pieces. They seem more… authentic?

Kostechko has Hooper on his mind

That title is not supposed to have a homoerotic undertone but I think it’s unavoidable. At least until you actually see Nathan Kostechko‘s new skull tattoo from Thomas Hooper.

“I’m fucking psyched on the end result. Here’s a pic of my new tattoo! Never thought I would end up this tattooed…” -Nathan Kostechko

Hands by Hooper

If there’s one thing in life I think I can count on, aside from death and taxes, it’s forever being wowed by the work Thomas Hooper does.

Hot off the presses

Thomas Hooper has two new shirts available for sale if you’re interested in some new threads.

T-shirts are a great way to support your favorite artist or shop, even if you can’t afford to get tattooed by them.
